No. Occulert processes your camera feed in real time on your device. No video is recorded, stored, or transmitted. The camera feed never leaves your phone.
Yes. The core driver monitoring app is completely free with no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no hidden fees. Optional fleet dashboard features may require a plan in the future.
Occulert works on any modern smartphone with a front-facing camera and a WebGL-capable browser. iPhone with Safari 15 or later and Android with Chrome work best. A desktop or tablet can also run the app but is not ideal for in-vehicle use.
Accuracy depends on lighting, camera position, and individual eye characteristics. Occulert calibrates to your eyes at the start of each session to improve personalization. As a prototype, it may occasionally miss events or trigger false alerts. It should never be used as the sole safety measure.
The core AI runs fully offline after the initial page load. GPS and cloud fleet sync require connectivity, but basic drowsiness detection works without an internet connection once the app has loaded.
GPS is always opt-in. You must explicitly enable it each session. Location data is used only for the local session report and optional fleet sync. It is never shared with third parties or used for advertising.
